Huawei Android phone coming to Cricket, MetroPCS

At a pre-IFA media event today, Huawei introduced its first Android-powered handset, the Ideos. It will be sold in Europe, Asia and the Americas and be made in both CDMA and GSM configurations. Android 2.2 is preloaded, and the GSM-based U8150 will support 850/1900/2100MHz HSPA networks for most Canadian carriers and AT&T.

The C8150 will have tri-band 850/1700/1900MHz CDMA on board, meaning it is likely to be carried by 1,700MHz prepaid carriers like Cricket and MetroPCS.

All variations have a GPS sensor, Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth and a microSD memory card slot. The hotspot feature supported by Android 2.2 will likewise be onboard. When the Ideos launches is unknown, but it will cost between $127 and $179 off-contract where most devices need a two-year contract to reach the same price.
