Toshiba outs fastest micro-, SDHC UHS-I cards

Toshiba has revealed new SDHC memory cards with the Ultra High Speed I (UHS-I) standard that enables them to reach maximum data read rates of 95MBps and write speeds of 80MBps. This makes them the fastest SDHC UHS-I memory cards in the world. The cards can thus far only use these speeds in USB 3.0 readers, as no camera can fully use their performance.

The SDHC cards will be available in 8-, 16-, and 32GB capacities and comply with the SD 3.0 USH104 standard. The 4-, 8- and 16GB microSDHC cards meet the SD 3.0 UHS 50 spec, meaning they can read data at a maximum of 40MBps and write at 20MBps. This performance makes them the fastest microSDHC cards.

The microSDHC will begin production in November, while the SDHC cards are coming in December. Pricing has not been revealed.

    Class 4?

My camera requires class 6. How can this be so fast no camera can use it? Do the speed classes even really mean anything?
