HTC's mystery CDMA/GSM, QWERTY Android slider hits FCC

HTC 1.2GHz Verizon phone shown at FCC

A rumored HTCQWERTY slider Verizon flagship has been spotted in an FCC filing this weekend. While only labeled as the PD42100, the device is clearly labeled for Verizon and matches up with the description of a hybrid CDMA/EVDO and GSM phone mentioned earlier. Its four-inch touchscreen has been confirmed in the few available shots.

Also on show are 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

None of the performance claims can be validated by the FCC, but the same tip that had first shown the phone itself also mentioned a 1.2GHz processor and could make it the fastest Android phone known so far. However, it was also pegged for an early 2011 launch and might not be released for some time. If the case, it might ship with Android 3.0 from the start and may be a Google-endorsed flagship for the new year. A chance exists that it may even include 4G to kick off Verizon's LTE network, but the technology may be very demanding on battery life. [via Engadget]
