Fujitsu intros Lifebook T580 with four-finger multi-touch

Fujitsu T580 supports keyboard, pen, or fingers


Fujitsu has taken the wraps off its new Lifebook T580, which hinges on a rotatable 10.1-inch 1920x1200 capacitive and pressure sensitive display. Weighing in at just 3.1 pounds and packing as much as an ultra-low voltage 1.33GHz Core i5 processor, it's one of the lightest and most powerful traditional tablet PCs to come to market. It comes loaded with Windows 7 Professional and is one of the few Windows systems to support four-finger multi-touch input. Multi-touch gestures available include double tap, scroll, zoom, and rotate, which will allow users take full advantage of Windows 7’s in-built touch screen capabilities.

Alternatively, the full-size keyboard or the included tablet pen can be used for input.

Standard shipping configurations start with a 1.33GHz Core i3 processor coupled with 2GB DDR3 RAM; the high-end option comes with the 1.33GHz Core i5 coupled with 4GB of DDR3 RAM. Hard drive choices include the option of a 128GB SSD or up to a large 7200RPM 500GB rotating drive. 802.11n Wi-Fi is fitted to get online, though the option exists for an embedded 3G module with integrated GPS. Battery life is rated up to a claimed eight hours with the standard three-cell battery.

Pricing and North American availability has yet to be announced.
