OS 6 expected to arrive pre-installed
Several leaked videos suggest Research In Motion is preparing to launch another flip phone, the BlackBerry 'Style' 9670. The pre-release device bears little resemblance to the Pearl Flip, as the new dimensions appear to be close to that of a Curve or Torch, rather than a traditional flip phone.
The videos, uncovered by CrackBerry, allegedly show RIM's tutorial videos for BlackBerry OS 6 running on the undisclosed handset. Specific specs remain unclear, although the Style is shown with an external display that presents information such as social networking feeds, messaging, and media playback.
If the videos are genuine, the Style represents RIM's latest effort to expand BlackBerry devices beyond their traditional form factor. The company recently released a QWERTY slider, the Torch, which appears to have achieved only lackluster sales following its initial launch.
RIM has yet to confirm details regarding the Style, although the handset is expected to be headed for CDMA carriers.
