Zotac unveils rare Blu-ray nettops

Zotac today staked out new ground in nettops today by launching a pair of nettops with Blu-ray out of the box. Both the ZBOX HD-ID33 and HD-ID34 are highly stylized and designed to be in place at a home theatre. To match the optical drive, both have the performance needed to handle 1080p video without a hitch, including the more recent 1.8GHz Atom D525 dual-core processor and an NVIDIA Ion that takes care of most video decoding work.

A copy of Cyberlink's PowerDVD 8 with Blu-ray support fills out the software side of the component.

Either system also has expansion uncommon to the category, starting with two memory slots, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, and an accessible 2.5-inch SATA II bay; 802.11n Wi-Fi is standard. The ID33 is a barebones model without RAM or a hard drive designed for those who want their choice of OS and storage, while the ID34 is pre-supplied with 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive.

Pricing and ship dates haven't been revealed, but the cost is likely to skew towards the higher end. Zotac sells in the US as well as in its home of Hong Kong and abroad. [via HotHardware]
