Panasonic VIERA Cast HDTVs, Blu-rays get Netflix

Panasonic on Thursday announced it made Netflix access available to subscribers on its Internet-capable 2010 Viera HDTVs and Blu-ray players. This will give owners of compatible Panasonic devices access to streaming movies and TV episodes. A subscription to the service starts at $9 per month.

USB connections are also present on Panasonic TVs, allowing users to hook up a wireless keyboard to make accessing the services available easier. No fees are associated with the Viera access itself. Netflix joins other Internet-based services and sites such as Skype, Twitter, Pandora, Amazon VOD, YouTube, Picasa, Bloomberg News and a weather service.
