IPS with LED backlighting for the first time

LG has debuted four new LED backlit IPS-based desktop monitors. The IPS206T, IPS226V and the IPS236V are aimed home audiences, while the the IPS2321P is for the pro market. All of them promise color accuracy even as they get thinner: the use of the more efficient lighting has simultaneously reduced the depth to just 0.76 inches while lower power consumption by 27 percent.

The IPS206T, IPS226V, IPS236V and IPS2321P reach 20 inches, 21.5 inches and 23 inches with their respective sizes closely aligned to their names. All but the 20-inch model muster 1080p resolutions and refresh with a 6ms response time. Like all IPS panels, they feature a wide 178-degree viewing angle, but they also have a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 250cd/m2 brightness.

All the home models come in glossy black plastic with fixed stands, while the pro model comes with height, tilt, swivel and pivot functions as well as built-in speakers. Information on pricing and expected release timing for all four is expected shortly. [via FLATPANELSHD]

    No Date or Price

LG is showing them at a show, but has not set a shipping date, nor pricing yet (and no mention on the LG website)

This is one thing about Apple's announcements I do like. When they announce you get a date, and a price. Sometimes the date is a bit vague, but at least you get something.
