DisplayLink chips to get USB 3.0, Ethernet ports

Offering a sneak peek at products it will showcase at this week's Intel Developer Forum, DisplayLink showed off two new chip platforms with USB 3.0 and Ethernet connections. The DL-3000 and DL-1000 series chips have integrated display and networking connections, along with high performance audio and HD video support. The technology lets users process multiple 1080p HD videos, high resolution graphics and networking data at the same time.

Also part of the specs is third-generation DisplayLink adaptive real-time compression technology to boost the potential speed.

Products equipped with the new chips will be capable of supporting up to two HD displays. They support HDCP 2.0-protected content and have DisplayPort, VGA DAC, DVI and HDMI ports.

Products using the DisplayLink DL-3000 and DL-1000 chips are due out in the market in the first half of next year, though pricing remains unknown.
