Notion Ink Adam ahead of schedule, to get comics

Notion Ink had good news for itsAdam tablet today as company founder Rohan Shravan explained that the hardware is ahead of schedule. It should reach FCC certification in the US a week earlier than first thought and should be ready to sell to the US and elsewhere shortly after early November. The firm had still thought it would have the Adam out by the end of 2010 but now is more likely to arrive on time.

A handful of updates on the device have also accompanied the news, starting with content. The Adam will have a comic book store when it ships, Shravan said. He wouldn't name the provider, although ComiXology is considered the definitive source by most. Notion Ink has added a toggle to turn the display off independently of the system for those who don't want to wait for it to go to sleep, and has promised more info on how replaceable batteries will work.

Most of the final details should surface in October, when Notion Ink anticipates clearance to reveal many of the software deals. [via Liliputing]
