Nokia N8 set back to October by software flaws
Nokia encountered another setback for the launch of the N8 as it said today that it had to push back the launch of the phone "a few weeks" due to software bugs. It had originally put the Symbian^3 flagship on track for late September but now expects it to ship sometime in October. One retailer had mentioned to AllAboutPhones that it could be as late as November but was corrected later by Nokia.
The setback worsens the troubles Nokia has had in getting the N8 to stores. First introduced in April, the smartphone was originally penned in for earlier in the summer but has slipped repeatedly and now won't make that target at all. Its absence has been one of the attributed factors in Nokia's slipping market share as customers are lured away to Android phones, iPhones and others that perform as well or better as its existing lineup.
Timely phone launches have been a chronic problem at Nokia, which often takes several months to ship a phone after its first public appearance. The issue has been severe enough that the Finnish company hired a RIM veteran expressly to speed up the launch timeframes for phones.
