Fujifilm says X100 is US bound for 1K price

Fujifilm today clarified its launch strategy for the FinePix X100 and confirmed it would reach the US. The rangefinder-like compact should reach the US in March and should have a price near $1,000. Previously, the company had only pledged itself to a launch early next year without a price.

The camera is a radical break for Fujifilm. It's both the company's first compact camera with an APS-C sensor and uses a non-removable, specialized 23mm f2 lens that is consciously limited to macros, portraits and wide-angle landscape shots. It also promises a unique hybrid viewfinder that can go all-electronic or optical with an electronic overlay for important shooting info. [via Engadget]
