Entourage Pocket Edge due soon with Wi-Fi model

Entourage after an unintentional reveal this weekend today confirmed details of the Pocket Edge. Its much smaller Android e-reader has a six-inch, older generation E Ink touch display on the left and a seven-inch touchscreen LCD on the right. While the performance is the same, Entourage told Digital Reader that it will come in both a 3G edition for Verizon and a Wi-Fi-only model for everyone else.

The layout has changed to adapt to the shrunken size, moving the camera to above the E Ink screen and replacing the navigator near the LCD with an optical trackpad. It now has a non-removable battery to reduce the footprint and is down to one USB port and a microSDHC card slot. All the changes have brought the weight down to a much lighter one pound versus the three of the 9.7-inch original.

Pricing for the Pocket Edge hasn't been made public, but it should ship in late October and will likely be significantly less expensive than the first model.
