Products taken from Chicago-area outlet

The Apple Store at Main Place shopping village in Naperville, Illinois (about 25 miles west of downtown Chicago) was burgled early this morning. Thieves broke the glass front of the store in the early hours and made off with approximately $24,000 worth of merchandise, according to police reports.

Police responded to an alarm at the store at 3:45am, discovered the shattered glass entry, searched the store and notified employees. Surveillance footage from the store is currently being reviewed as part of the investigation.

Crime Stoppers has posted a $1000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Crime Stoppers' number in that area is (630) 420-6006. [via Daily Herald]

I guess it's only a matter of time before

iron gates become part of the Apple Store design. I'm sure breaking some glass to get to Apple products is a bit to much to resist.

When you hit an Apple store, I'm guessing it's not too much of a burden to make off with $24K of goods. A pair of cargo pants would do the trick!

    nothing to see here

    I checked the original source,

Turns out by $24K, they meant, one Apple iPhone 5 prototype

By stealing, they meant a drunk apple employee lost it in a bar.

By 'breaking the glass' it turns out the person in possession of the phone, is female

You just have to know how to interpret these stories.
