Toshiba upgrades Qosmio X500 with GTX 460M video

Toshiba today upgraded the Qosmio X500 to take advantage of NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 460M. The upgraded 1.5GB graphics chip gives a significant performance lift over the 360M and better helps drive the 18.4-inch display. Among the boosts are native DirectX 11 game support and better GPGPU tasks.

The base price for a 460M model starts at $1,300, although Toshiba hasn't set the minimum specs. A relative starter X500 should have a Core i5 processor and a DVD burner. Upgrades can bring it to a Core i7, a Blu-ray drive, 8GB of RAM and two hard drives, including 7,200RPM and SSD picks.

New models should be available online and in stores on September 26.
