Launch dates remain unknown

DirecTV and TiVo appear to be continuing beta testing for their updated DVR hardware, which has been delayed several times since its inception. Customers are still receiving rejection letters for participation in the private beta program, which is reportedly full, according to alleged correspondence posted by Zatz Not Funny.

TiVo CEO Tom Rogers recently announced that the upgraded DirecTV TiVo box is still officially scheduled for a 2010 release, although the project is nonetheless expected to be pushed to next year. The company did confirm that it had found a manufacturer for the hardware, which will be built by Technicolor/Thompson.

The latest TiVo/DirecTV endeavors were originally set to bring a device to the market in 2009.
