Toshiba L635 Kids PC toughens up for young users
Toshiba today brought out a rare notebook designed first and foremost for kids. The Satellite L635 Kids' PC is built to withstand the cosmetic abuse sometimes imposed by those under 10 and has both a cross-patterned finish and a wipeable keyboard that should continue to look good and stay cleaner after use with dirty hands. At 13.3 inches, the system is small and light enough to be portable for a child but still big and fast enough to run modern games and movies.
Software is also tailored to the family audience. Net Nanny is pre-installed to try and filter online access, and the simplified KidZui browser is available for those with children who might not be old enough for a full app. The kids still get entertainment with both a pair of Disney movies and LEGO Batman.
Best Buy will be the sole store carrying the L635 Kids PC and will have it on September 26 for an unmentioned price. Most specifications aren't known will include a DVD burner.

Nice job
My kids are all in their teens but I think this is a good idea. I'm glad to see Toshiba moving in a unique direction instead of following Apple with everything and railing against them because they can't catch up. It's good to see some fresh thinking from PC companies.
