T-Mobile starts taking G2 preorders

T-Mobile lived up to a last-minute note and started taking preorders for the G2. Current subscribers can order the phone online or at retail up until October 4 to guarantee they will get the Android slider on the October 6 launch for the wider public. The phone costs $200 on a contract or $500 without.

The G2 stands as the only current, major Android phone to use a pure version of the OS and has Android 2.2 without any custom interface. Hardware is a match for the Desire Z with its unique sliding mechanism as well as 14.4Mbps HSPA+ 3G support, an 800MHz processor, a 3.7-inch touchscreen and a five-megapixel camera. T-Mobile's main adaptation is to support 3G on its own frequencies.
