Apple TV on verge of shipping
Apple has quickly put an end to talk of Apple TV delays today by getting orders ready to ship. Multiple readers say their orders have been "prepared for shipment" and are likely to start shipping within hours. The timing should ensure that the media hub makes the originally promised late September target for both online and retail buyers.
New orders still appear to be backlogged and should arrive within two to three weeks. To date, it's unknown if unexpected high demand or parts shortages have contributed to launch worries.
The company hasn't said why it refunded the expedited shipping charges if it still expected to ship the Apple TV on time, though the company has often given free expedited shipping for holiday launches of some products to get as many delivered as possible during the holiday quarter. Apple's holiday quarter begins this week.
