Amazon making Kindle app for BlackBerry PlayBook

Amazon pledged to Kindle for BlackBerry PlayBook

Amazon today was quick to leap on the unveiling of the BlackBerry PlayBook by promising a version of the Kindle app for RIM's upcoming tablet. It will at least support the Kindle's characteristic syncing of bookmarks and positions across devices. Other features weren't mentioned, but the larger touchscreen will likely give it highlighting and note taking similar to the iPad edition.

The PlayBook isn't due to ship until early 2011 and sets the earliest possible timeframe for Amazon to release its app. An iPad version was available in sync with Apple's tablet launch this April. Only a Wi-Fi BlackBerry PlayBook will be available on launch, ruling out always-on 3G as with the iPad or the Kindle.
