Roku said adding Hulu Plus front end
Roku's media boxes could soon get Hulu Plus access, StreamingMedia executive VP Dan Rayburn claimed on Monday. After allegedly getting a photo of the front end, two content partners said that a Hulu channel was coming. They didn't say whether it would be the free service, though Hulu's resistance to TV-friendly free use makes it more likely that a $10 Hulu Plus subscription is necessary.
The timing is still unknown, but the add-on was characterized as coming "soon."
Hulu has promised to bring its Plus service to many more devices and already supports iPhones, iPads and Sony's PS3, with Samsung and Vizio devices as well as the Xbox 360 and other smartphones coming soon. The Roku device would be a first for the studio-backed service, though, as Hulu has tried to block Boxee and has otherwise held out.
The Roku hubs have regularly stressed multiple services and already support Amazon VOD, MLB.tv, Netflix and a slew of smaller, usually more independent video channels.
