Amazon Kindle for the Web gives app free previews
Amazon today promised a break away from a dependence on native apps with a beta launch of Kindle for the Web. The implementation is currently focused on samples and gives authors or other writes a way of previewing a Kindle book through embedded code (such as a sample below) on an outside page. The design is relatively touch-friendly and allows users to buy a full book from the embed, taking an affiliate link cut from those that do.
The company hasn't said when it plans to wrap up the beta but does expect to have the web edition optimized for mobile devices and to add new features. Amazon hasn't given any indications that it plans to offer full text in the web and so far has characterized Kindle for the Web as a discovery tool. Previously, Kindle books were inaccessible outside of native apps.
