Tablet still set for 2011 introduction

HP executive Todd Bradley has made the first official reference to a name for the upcoming webOS tablet. The Personal Systems Group executive VP, speaking during an analyst meeting, claimed HP will push its product range beyond smartphones, with the introduction of a "webOS-powered PalmPad" set for release early in 2011.

The PalmPad branding first surfaced earlier this year in a USPTO trademark application, although the company never publicly announced a specific name for the tablet. Features of the device remain unclear, although it is expected to be powered by an ARM processor and integrate a multi-touch display.

Bradley recently shed light on the company's tablet strategy, which aims to take advantage of a market expected to be worth more than $40 billion. Team members will reportedly focus on building the app market, enhancing the webOS software, and continue to expand the platform to include more mobile devices. [via PreCentral]
