Camera centered phone inbound next week

Panasonic Japan has pre-announced that it plans to unveil a Lumix phone that it has been quietly developing at CEATEC next week. The company has set up a Japanese teaser site that reveals little about the phone other than its international launch will take place on October 5. Given the Lumix branding, it can be assumed that its emphasis will be on being able to take photographs comparable to a stand-alone digital camera.

While no information has been forthcoming about its OS, Panasonic has revealed that the phone will have a 3.3-inch 854x480 LCD display, Mobile VenusEngine image processing, a 13-megapixel CMOS sensor, a microSDHC slot, Wi-Fi and DLNA media sharing support. [via MobileCrunch]
