Epic 4G update delayed due to Google server issue

The promised firmware update for the Samsung Epic 4G from Sprint that was due to go live starting Friday has been delayed due to an issue with Google's servers, the carrier said. The issue is claimed as an administrative nature, Sprint continued in a statement, adding that the issue is being resolved and an update on the software's arrival will be sent out as soon as that's done.

The update should resolve issues with the Wi-Fi draining the battery even when the phone is in standby mode, lag when sending large e-mails and the speeds caps when on the 3G data network. It will also fix an inability to download Amazon MP3 tracks over 4G. [via SlashGear]
