Handset to arrive mid-October
As Rogers customers wait for the imminent launch of Samsung's Captivate handset, a representative for the carrier has admitted that the device may not receive its Android 2.2 update until early next year. The Canadian network already ran into other problems with the launch, which was initially expected in the summer but later pushed back to mid-October.
Samsung promised to update its full range of Galaxy S offerings with the latest version of Google's mobile OS, although the company has yet to commit to a schedule. Unconfirmed reports suggest Android 2.2 will be rolled out to certain carriers sometime later in October.
Rogers customers can pre-order the Captivate for $150 with a three-year contract.
