Leak points to one HTC WP7 phone at T-Mobile event

(Update: official) T-Mobile's Windows Phone 7 event happening alongside the official AT&T release will have just one HTC phone on show, tips have all but confirmed today [sub. required]. The event has yet to receive concrete timing beyond the afternoon but would involve just T-Mobile and its phone partner. Contacts for the WSJ didn't identify the model, but it will have to be the HD7, a 4.3-inch flagship with a 1GHz processor, a five-megapixel camera with 720p video and 8GB of built-in storage.

When the phone would ship was also uncertain, though it would more likely come after AT&T's anticipated release on November 8.

A more "business-oriented" phone is due later but also wasn't named. The second model is likely to be the LG Optimus T, a variant on the Optimus 7. Many of the same features should be in place as on the HD7, but it will have a smaller screen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Microsoft hasn't previously talked in any significant detail about T-Mobile as AT&T is its preferred partner for the launch, but the company is likely eager to want T-Mobile onboard to maximize the launch without significant extra resources. WP7 won't get CDMA devices until early 2011 as the extra work to support the rival cellular standard would have delayed the release.

Update: T-Mobile in a statement said that it "indicated support for Windows Phone 7 and will announce details of [its] Windows Phone 7 offering on Oct. 11."
