Zoom Q3HD pocket cam records stereo sound, 1080p

Digital audio recording hardware maker Samson has introduced its latest pocket camcorder, the advanced Zoom Q3HD. While others on the market can also record at 1080p resolution, the new model brings in Samson's preferred dual microphones for truer stereo sound recording. The device can record 1080p at 30FPS or 720p in either 30FPS or 60FPS.

The stereo condenser microphones can record 24-bit, 96kHz audio. Audio levels can be monitored thanks to a visual meter, and gain is settable to high, low or auto. The device also has an HDMI port and is powered by two AA batteries.

Users frame their shots on the 2.4-inch, 320x240 LCD screen. The five-megapixel CMOS camera captures all the images onto an included 2GB SD memory card. A USB port lets users download the captured content, and an HDMI output allows viewing on external screens.

The Zoom Q3HD ships later this fall for $300.
