Mesmerize and Showcase headed to new carriers

US Cellular and Cellular South are the latest carriers to announce Galaxy S-series handsets in their respective smartphone offerings. US Cellular is set to get the Mesmerize variant, while Cellular South customers will be able to purchase the Showcase model.

Both handsets offer the same set of hardware features, including a 4-inch AMOLED display, 1GHz processor, and a 5.0-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video. The phones will ship with Android 2.1, although customers eventually will be able to update the OS to v2.2 Froyo.

The Mesmerize will be released at US Cellular on October 27 for $199 with an $80 mail-in rebate. Cellular South expects the Showcase to ship sometime before the holidays, however pricing information has yet to be announced.
