Toshiba brings Android tablet prototype to CEATEC

Toshiba brought a new Android tablet to CEATEC that hasn't been seen before, as it's not the Folio 100. The device was brought to the show to demonstrate Toshiba's Book-Place service for the Japanese market. There are no details on this feature, nor the tablet itself.

It is expected to get Android 2.2, however, and the photos do confirm the presence of a webcam. It is also believed that the device will ship with a touchscreen the size of around 10 inches and a resolution of 1024x600, suggesting it's at least a close relative.

The Folio 100 has similar specs, and uses a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU. While unconfirmed, this is likely to transfer over to the new, unnamed tablet. [via Akihabara]
