Devices headed to Russia and Europe
Samsung has introduced three new phones in its Wave series of low-cost smartphones. The Wave525, Wave533 and Wave575 are each based on Samsung's own Bada platform, which utilizes the TouchWiz interface. The devices are built with 3.2-inch WQVGA touchscreens, Wi-Fi radios, GPS receivers and 3.2-megapixel cameras.
The Wave525 and Wave575 both offer a similar design, although the 525 is headed for EDGE networks and the 575 adds 3G support. The Wave533 also provides many of the same features, but with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
The Wave525 is currently available in Russia, while the Wave533 will be launched in Russia sometime in October. Both handsets will eventually ship to other global markets, although a North American launch has yet to be confirmed. The Wave575 is expected to launch in Sweden by the middle of November, before heading to other markets in Europe, Southeast Asia and China.
