HTC 7 Mozart, Trophy, HD7 Pro mix

HTC kicked off Windows Phone 7 in large fashion today with three models that will go beyond the US. The 7 Mozart is an international version of the HD7 for T-Mobile and shares its 3.7-inch touchscreen along with an eight-megapixel camera, 720p video and 8GB of space. It uses an original 1GHz Snapdragon chip and a unibody aluminum shell much like the earlier Legend.

The 7 Mozart is due to reach Orange and T-Mobile in Europe, and T-Mobile in the US as the HD7.

The Trophy is pitched as the 'budget' model but has a 3.8-inch touchscreen. Its only conspicuous scaling back will be to use a five-megapixel camera and a less elaborate body construction than the HD7. Vodafone will carry it as an exclusive.

HTC is wrapping up the line with the 7 Pro, its only QWERTY slider; it uses the same tilt-up mechanism as the aging Touch Pro2 but with much newer hardware. Most details still aren't known, but it will have both 8GB and 16GB storage options. The phone is due to reach many European carriers by the end of the year and to reach both Rogers in Canada and Sprint in the US in early 2011.

Every device will have a new HTC hub, which combines many of the apps that would normally go to the home screen in a single portal. Owners can make lists, check stocks and weather, brows photos and change sounds from a single area. They should all output Dolby Mobile surround audio, though the Surround for AT&T will be the flagship for the feature with its external speakers.
