Powermat near iPhone 4 and Evo 4G cases

Powermat is readying a pair of new wireless phone chargers to modernize its lineup. A sighting at Best Buy has shown charging add-ons for both Apple's iPhone 4 and HTC's Evo 4G. The brief Engadget tip didn't provide many details, but the iPhone 4 would continue the pattern of using a special charging case while the Evo 4G appears to just require a special battery cover.

The company hasn't formally announced the updated cases, but stock in store hints it could be made public next week.

The Powermat system, including for the new cases, works by induction that requires contact with a charging plate attached to a power source. Such techniques are currently rare, but Palm (now HP) has made it a signature feature of the Pre and Pixi.
