Bug Labs, AT&T to bring out tested modules

Wireless provider AT&T and Bug Labs have announced a partnership that will enable developers to purchase AT&T-certified and network ready BUGmodules. They will work out of the box on AT&T's network once developers put the devices together. Called BUG + 3G/GSM, the first AT&T Connection Kit will be available in January and will become the latest in Bug Labs' modular hardware offerings.

The device will let product developers more quickly test and launch their creations without worrying about testing and certification, especially during the initial deployment phase. The modules will be FCC certified as well. Developers can also collect, share and control the data from other networked BUGs using the new BUGswarm web app.

AT&T does warn that products with Bug Labs modules need final certification on its network. Some additional testing may be required if changes are made in volume production.

The Connection Kit will include an AT&T SIM card, data capacity for testing and access to AT&T Control Center run by Jasper Wireless. Prices for the hardware haven't been revealed.
