Microsoft tests Windows Phone 7 sync utility for Macs

updated 11:45 pm EDT, Wed October 20, 2010

Still unclear if Zune is coming to Mac

Microsoft is currently readying a software utility that will allow Windows Phone 7 handsets to sync with Macs. As expected, Windows Phone 7 Connector works solely as a sync tool rather than replicating the full functionality of Microsoft's Zune client for Windows machines.

The software can be configured to automatically sync a WP7 handset as soon as it is connected to the computer. Other options allow users to access content from iTunes and iPhoto, with individual items chosen using a checkbox system.

A Microsoft executive in the UK recently published a Twitter update hinting at a full Zune client for Macs, although the post was quickly removed. The company followed with a statement pointing to the sync utility, but the possibility of a Zune client has yet to be explicitly confirmed or denied.

Windows Phone 7 Connector is currently limited to private beta testing, with public availability expected sometime before the end of the year. [via Pocket-lint]

For a company to be dumb enough

to require the user to click on an icon to turn the page (much like those idiotic flash-based Office Depot/Staples ads), it really takes some major-league idiots on the UI team to make it reality.

    vs Android maybe ....

I'd never give up my iPhone for this, but I have to say, compared to what I've seen, I do like this better than most of the Andriod or WebOS offerings out there.

This isn't the same evil Microsoft we had in the past. This is the new "beaten like a dog" humbler Microsoft. Having the same inept CEO is just for comic relief.

Syncables does this, and does this great

Why the heck would you wait for freaking Microsoft to come out with some software they claim will sync their new phones to Macs? Oh yeah by the way, congratulations to Apple for finally passing these un-innovative peeps over at Microsoft by $4 BILLION this quarter. About time! Anyway - Syncables already lets you do this. I have Syncables version 7 and (ironically haha) it syncs all of my media from Windows Phone 7, droids, and blackberries to Macs, PC's, netbooks, etc. It's cross platform and works flawlessly for me...I even backed up my contacts using it.
