Captivate arriving in limited numbers at Rogers

As promised, the Samsung Captivate smartphone is now shipping to Canadian carrier Rogers, despite delays. The Android 2.1 handset was late because of a worldwide shortage of AMOLED screens for mobile devices. Rogers does warn this will cause shortages, with limited numbers of the device available over the next few weeks.

Until October 24, customers can pre-order the Captivate for $150CAD ($147) on some three-year voice and data plans. After that, the price goes up to $180CAD ($176).

The Captivate sports a four-inch Super AMOLED screen, a 1GHz processor and a five-megapixel camera with 720p video recording capability. Also present are an 802.11n Wi-Fi link, Bluetooth 3.0 and 16GB of integrated storage space.
