Edifier puts out notebook-friendly USB soundbar

Edifier Soundbar USB boosts notebook sound


Edifier chose to wrap up the weekend with a new soundbar tailored just to notebook owners. Its simply titled Soundbar USB is just 1.5 inches tall and, at 10.5 inches, just long enough to sit on top of a notebook. USB power keeps it completely portable but can still power discrete pairs of woofers and tweeters.

The design works with any Mac, Windows PC or other computer that supports USB audio. It should be available today for $49, although Edifier hasn't said which stores are carrying the Soundbar USB.

    As I can't find it on the web site I wonder if it can snap on across the top of the display and not sit on the laptop keys as in the picture????

    I learned long ago not to put pens or pencils or anything on that spot just in case you forget it and close the lid on it.

    Terrible design

    As cmoney suggests this is a terrible, horrible design. One of the most common forms of laptop damage is caused by objects sitting in the hinge area when you close it. People just forget they have sat something there and "bang" there goes the screen, or the hinge, or both. Hopefully there is a way to clip this speakers on a different way. If not, then this may be the most expensive set of speakers you'll every buy for your computer...

    Magnets? What magnets? You mean the ones in the speaker? And you think that will be somehow a problem, even though your laptop has built-in speakers and seem to work OK? Or that your hard drives have magnets in them and don't seem to cause harm to data?
