Listed on T-Mobile UK, Vodafone Netherlands
The BlackBerry Bold 9780 expected to land early November has begun appearing on European carrier websites as ‘coming soon’. It is now listing on the Vodafone Netherlands and T-Mobile UK sites, among others. At the time of writing it is yet to appear on any US carrier sites, but RIM’s launches usually occur in multiple markets simultaneously, so the Bold can be expected to make its US appearance shortly.
Running the vaunted new BlackBerry OS 6, the updated Bold 9780 will play a critical role in RIM’s attempt to retain its current market share, which has been slipping in recent months in the face of the relentless march of iOS and Android.
The specs that are being posted on carrier sites confirm that it centers on a 2.44-inch 480x360 TFT display, incorporates a 5-megapixel camera, supports up to 16GB microSD cards and provides up to 6 hours of talktime per charge. It is powered by a 624MHz processor, includes an HSPDA baseband chipset includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g. [via Engadget]
