CherryPal not shipping its products as promised
The $188, 7-inch Android tablet that is the CherryPad is not shipping to disgruntled buyers, who were expecting the devices by October 15. One such buyer who wrote in to CrunchGear says a tracking number told him the device is enroute on October 20. The number did not correspond to any packages in the UPS, FedEx, DHL or USPS system, however.
The buyer said the Cherrypal support forum is rife with similar stories, though the administrator responded that the delay is due to a typhoon in the Philippines and that buyers in California and Italy received their products. This claim is currently suspect, as no reports of such occurrences have popped up on the web.
Zecozi, CherryPad's e-commerce partner, is defending the company, though it's also firmly denying the fault is on its own part.
"We're not responsible but the guys at CherryPal are not scamming you," the Zecozi rep wrote.
The CherryPad promises an 800x480 touchscreen and Android 2.1. It has an 800MHz Samsung ARM11 CPU, but just 256MB of RAM to keep the price low. There is 2GB of storage onboard, along with a microSD card reader and Wi-Fi for its Internet access.
