Brand associated with Sony Ericsson
The upcoming PlayStation Phone maybe tied to a new gaming platform dubbed "Z-System," according to several details that have recently surfaced. The name has been placed on the status bar of the prototype device that was pictured earlier today. As noted by Engadget, the z-system.com domain is owned by Sony Ericsson.
The phone maker also holds a trademark for the term, with filings and subsequent approvals in the US an Benelux trademark offices. The filing category suggests Z-System is associated with "software for interacting or playing with electronic video games," rather than a specific piece of hardware.
The device, said to be code-named Zeus, is expected to run Android 2.x or a different variant, possibly v3.0, by the time it arrives on the market. Other features may include PSP Go-style controls on a slider, along with a 1GHz processor and a screen size somewhere between 3.7 and 4.1 inches.
Sony has yet to confirm any details surrounding the PlayStation Phone.
