Amazon Kindle app coming to WP7 phones

Amazon gave a treat to early Windows Phone 7 adopters today with news at Microsoft's PDC 2010 that it was launching Kindle for Windows Phone 7. The title uses the highly visual look of the Android and iOS apps but keeps the stylized Metro interface common to all WP7 titles. Its version will be relatively simple at first, with no mention so far of highlights, notes or social networking features.

The app will still sync between other Kindle apps and the reader hardware, and it will have the option to e-mail a link to a given book; the absence of copy-and-paste text has ruled out sending quotes, however. Readers can shop from the app, download trial books and customize the look of the text.

Development is still in its early stages, and the app is only slated to arrive in the "coming months." WP7 phone owners can sign up for notice of when the app is ready.
