iPad now on sale at Verizon, AT&T

iPad hits Verizon and ATT as promised

As planned, the Verizon iPad bundle has gone on sale. The pack for now combines a Wi-Fi iPad with a MiFi 2200 3G router and shares the EVDO connection with both Apple's tablet and four other devices over Wi-Fi. Verizon is discounting the routers to make the deal possible and is selling the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB bundles for the same $630, $730 and $830 as buying a 3G iPad from AT&T.

Data plans aren't prepaid as they are on the rival carrier, but Verizon isn't requiring a contract. Rates start from $20 for 1GB and scale to as much as $50 for 5GB. The carrier is also selling the iPad independently of service, although users who already have iPads outside of the bundles will need to use the carrier's regular $40 (250MB) or $60 (5GB) 3G data rates and buy a MiFi separately.

AT&T has also fulfilled its promises and is selling 3G iPads both through its retail stores and to corporate customers. The prices match those of iPads bought elsewhere, though only business buyers have access to postpaid subscription plans instead of the usual prepaid choices.
