Mozilla revises Firefox 4 release schedule

Mozilla has revised its release schedule for Firefox 4 due to the longer than estimated work on improving the software. As such the final release candidate is now due to arrive in early 2011, while the next beta build, r8, is now due to arrive on November 12. The final software will ship shortly after the final release candidate.

Mozilla promises a faster, more capable browser, with a simplified user interface and improved graphics and layout features with extra CSS3 and HTML5 support. Also new and improved are the browser's JavaScript engine and support for touchscreens.

The first beta candidate of Firefox 4 was launched on June 29. Mozilla has thus far released seven versions, all helping to identify compatibility problems with current web content. Mozilla points out that even the revised schedule could change based on user feedback.
