Target makes iPhone deal official November 7
Target confirmed rumors today and said it would start carrying the iPhone as of November 7. The deal will see both the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 reach the 846 stores that have a Target Mobile section. Prices weren't mentioned but should cover the same range as for other retailers.
Most Target stores should have the iPhone by mid-2011, Target said. Supporting stores will have accessories and conspicuous ads.
The deal comes well after existing deals with Best Buy and Walmart and suggests Apple is following the same strategy it has taken with the iPad, where it expanded sales outlets once supply limits began lifting and it could reliably reach more locations. Apple is now under pressure to keep its lead over the BlackBerry and minimize any US gap with Android.
