Device works as external drive

Acer has expanded its Aspire series with a new network-connected media player, the RevoView. The DLNA-certified box offers 1080p video playback, an Ethernet port, optical audio, two USB ports, and a memory card reader. Users can also load media onto swappable 3.5-inch internal hard drives, with a tray that can be shared with the company's Aspire M Series desktops.

When a HDD is inserted, the RevoView can also be used as a standalone external hard drive or backup drive. A wide range of video formats are supported, including AVI, MKV, MP4, M4V, ASF, and WMV, among others. The optical audio output supports Dolby Digital and DTS pass-through to supported receivers.

Acer will begin selling the RevoView on November 8, with suggested retail pricing starting at £120 (~$193 USD).
