Connected, rugged tablet for kids due next year
Isabella has introduced its second product, after the Vizit two-way frame, through a seven-inch rugged tablet for children. Called Fable, the device lets users access ebooks and share photos through VizitMe.com. The tablet stores any created drawings in the cloud, and this also allows parents to limit content access, supervise which friends and family their children interact with and what they download from the bookstore.
Isabella has partnered with global education publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to provide picture books and interactive content. The Fable will get a mobile broadband connection and a camera that can take photos, which can be colored in when opened in the drawing app. Games will help children learn to count, read, learn shapes and colors and provide nutrition information. Users interact through the full touchscreen LCD and an Isabella-made carousel interface.
The Fable is due to ship in mid-2011, though prices have yet to be revealed.
