Remote control functionality for Google TV

YouTube has launched a new Android app that provides remote control functions for the company's Leanback interface. After signing in to a YouTube account on an Android phone and Google TV or computer, the handset is automatically paired using the Internet. Users can then control playback, find and queue videos, and have the content sent to Leanback devices.

The YouTube remote app is now available as a free download from the Android Market. The company cautions that the current version is still in beta, with several 'experimental' features that are not provided in the other YouTube app for Android.
