AMD teases Khrishna and other Bobcat chips

AMD as part of the same preview that showed the first shipping Fusion chips also provided the codenames for some of its longer term processor launches. Khrishna and Wichita will use a more power-efficient 28 nanometer design with two and four cores respectively. Both will cover virtually the entire range and scale from as small as a tablet to notebooks and some desktops.

An in-between processor known as Trinity will use the sooner-to-ship 32nm process and the Bulldozer architecture, which is also multi-core but focuses on scaling the number of cores with a focus on desktops and workstations.

All three are also Fusion designs with DirectX 11-level graphics built into the chip die but won't ship until their respective processes are ready, which won't start until next year.

Despite the focus on Fusion, three conventional processors will also come within the next two years. Komodo is built for desktops and will carry 10 cores using Bulldozer. Server-oriented Opterons will get sequels using the Bobcat architecture that include Sepang, an up to 10-core design, and Terramar, a 20-core model.
