Sprint says 4G up in LA by end of November

Sprint's Corporate Communications spokeswoman Stephanie Vinge gave a quick update that WiMAX service would go live in Los Angeles by December 1. The figure narrows a looser end-of-year goal and follows after New York City. San Francisco and other areas don't yet have definite targets.

The access as always provides an officially claimed 10Mbps peak speed with typical speeds estimated to reach between 3-6Mbps. Rates depend on the nature of the device. Users with 4G-capable phones like the Evo 4G and Epic 4G already have WiMAX access built into their usual smartphone rates.

Clear usually launches its own 4G service at the same time as a Sprint introduction.

    Not a huge suprise

Clear announced December 1 as the launch date of their 4G service in LA back on October 17th. Currently some towers are live in LA, meaning owners of CLEAR devices, Evo phones, and other devices that can access the CLEAR 4G network are already getting an early peak at the service.
