Wall Street Journal app launches for Android

The Wall Street Journal has now made a version of its Tablet Edition app available for Android tablets. The download requires Android 2.2 and brings with it full-screen video, the ability to save articles for offline viewing, market data and more. Full sections of each day's newspaper are available through the app.

Each day's paper is downloaded automatically when it's published for quick access. A seven-day archive is saved onto host tablets for viewing offline. Accessing all of the content through the app costs $4 per week. Thus far, the app is known only to work with the recently-launched Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The WSJ already offers an app for the iPad at similar pricing, but it can't download new issues in the background.
